Terms of Service
Last updated: July 15, 2026
Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using Terminal Candy, or by using terminalcandy.com and its community features, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software or the site. We may decline, suspend, or terminate service to anyone at our discretion, consistent with applicable law.
The app & your license
Terminal Candy is free to download and comes with a 14-day free trial. When the trial ends, continued use requires a license — there is no free tier beyond the trial. The trial has limits (such as a cap on the number of installed skins), and those limits may change over time. A one-time $10 payment grants a perpetual, non-transferable license key, tied to your email address, that unlocks the full experience (unlimited skins and community membership). One key works on up to three of your personal machines.
Your license key is yours: keep it private. You are responsible for activity performed with your key and your signed-in account. We may revoke keys obtained fraudulently, shared publicly, resold, or associated with a payment chargeback.
The community
The community marketplace lets members share skins, comment, like, and upvote. Browsing is open to everyone; contributing (uploading, commenting, liking, voting, reporting) requires a license and a signed-in account. The community is a feature of the product, not a public forum — access to it is a privilege we extend and may withdraw, and we may change, limit, or discontinue community features at any time.
Your content
By uploading a skin or posting any content (including comments, usernames, avatars, and bios), you:
- Represent that you created it or have every right needed to share it, and that it does not infringe any third-party rights;
- Grant Terminal Candy a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, adapt for display (for example, thumbnails and previews), and promote it — including featuring it on the homepage, the download page, and in marketing for Terminal Candy;
- Retain ownership of your original work — our license exists to run and promote the service, not to take your art;
- Agree that content may be automatically validated, fingerprinted, scanned, held for review, and flagged before and after publication;
- Understand the license above continues for content we have already distributed or featured (for example, cached copies and published marketing) even after you delete the original.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without restriction or compensation.
Community content is not ours
Skins, comments, profiles, and everything else members post is user-generated content. It does not represent our views, and hosting it is not endorsement — not even when content is featured, ranked, or promoted, which are editorial choices we make at our sole discretion and may change at any time. To the fullest extent permitted by law (including Section 230 of the U.S. Communications Decency Act, where it applies), we are not liable for what members post. Downloaded community content is provided "as is" — we do not guarantee it is accurate, safe, compatible, or free of defects. Use it at your own risk.
Moderation
We moderate on a best-efforts basis. We do not — and cannot — pre-screen everything, and we have no obligation to monitor content, though we reserve the right to. We may remove, hide, hold, decline, restore, or refuse any content at any time, for any reason or no reason, with or without notice. Automated systems (duplicate fingerprints, validators, report thresholds that temporarily remove content pending review) act before a human sees anything; a takedown, hold, or restoration is not a judgment about you or a promise of future action. Moderation decisions are final.
Usernames & profiles
Usernames are first-come, first-served, but not property. We may reclaim, rename, or disable any username that impersonates a person or brand, squats a trademark, is offensive, or is inactive-and-confusing, at our discretion. Profile information you publish (username, avatar, bio, and — subject to your privacy toggles — your uploads, likes, and comments) is public. Don't put anything in a profile you wouldn't put on a billboard.
Reports & appeals
Report tools exist to protect the community — use them in good faith. Filing false or coordinated reports to take down content you simply dislike is abuse and can cost you community access. When your own upload is held (for example, as a possible duplicate), you may submit it for review; we review appeals at our discretion and our decision is final.
Prohibited content & conduct
You may not upload or post content that, or use the service to:
- Contain malicious code or attempt to access anything beyond what a skin needs (an image and its layout manifest);
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent authorship or affiliation;
- Infringe copyrights, trademarks, publicity rights, or other rights;
- Depict or sexualize a minor in any way — whether real, fictional, drawn, stylized, or AI-generated (zero tolerance; content is removed and reported to authorities, and the account is banned);
- Sexually depict a real, identifiable person without their consent, including deepfakes and non-consensual intimate imagery;
- Be hateful, harassing, threatening, violent, or otherwise illegal;
- Circumvent the skin validator, duplicate detection, license system, trial or slot limits, rate limits, or any security measure;
- Spam, farm engagement, manipulate votes or reports, or game the refund program with duplicative or low-effort uploads;
- Scrape the community at scale or resell community content.
Violations may result in content removal, loss of community access, license revocation for fraud or abuse, or a permanent ban — at our sole discretion.
Mature content
Legal, consensual adult or suggestive artwork is allowed in the community, provided it does not cross any line in "Prohibited content & conduct" above — in particular, everyone depicted must be an adult, and real people may not be sexualized without consent. If your skin contains such content you must flag it as NSFW when you upload it, and you must rate every upload honestly. Deliberately or repeatedly mislabeling mature content — rating it Clean or Suggestive when a more mature rating applies — is a Terms violation and may result in your uploads being placed on review-hold, a temporary freeze on uploading, restriction to clean-only posting, loss of community access, or revocation of your license — at our sole discretion.
NSFW skins are blurred by default for everyone. Viewing them is limited to signed-in license holders who choose to reveal them, and by unblurring or enabling mature content you confirm you are at least 18 years old and that such content is lawful where you are. We may re-classify, gate, or remove any content, and we make no guarantee that automated blurring is perfect.
Purchase refunds
Full refund within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked. Email support@terminalcandy.com. Initiating a payment chargeback instead may result in license revocation.
The upload-10 refund program
Members who publish ten unique, new skins may request a refund of their license fee. This is a discretionary community reward, not an entitlement: every request is subject to manual review and approval; duplicative, low-effort, infringing, or removed skins do not count; one refund per license; and we may modify, suspend, or end the program at any time without affecting licenses already purchased. Gaming the program is grounds for denial and loss of community access.
Availability & changes to the service
We may add, change, limit, or remove features — including the community, featured placement, free-tier limits, and any beta functionality — at any time. We do not promise the service, the site, or the community will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, or that any content will remain hosted. Your license to the app itself is perpetual; everything else is a living service.
Termination
You can stop using Terminal Candy at any time and may delete your uploads and request deletion of your data (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate your community access — and, for fraud or serious abuse, revoke your license — if you violate these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (content license for already-distributed copies, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) survive termination.
Disclaimer of warranties
The software, the website, and the community are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The entire risk as to quality, performance, and results is with you.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Terminal Candy, its developer, or contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses — arising out of or in connection with the software, the site, or the community, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for all claims shall not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or ten U.S. dollars ($10). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
User responsibility
Terminal Candy provides a terminal interface to your Mac's shell. You are solely responsible for the commands you run, the programs and CLI tools you invoke through it, and any consequences of those actions. Terminal Candy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any third-party tool you choose to run inside it, and we are not responsible for the behavior, output, availability, or costs of those tools.
Copyright & IP complaints
If you believe content on the marketplace infringes your rights, email support@terminalcandy.com with the subject "Removal request", a link to the content, and a description of your work. We review every notice and remove infringing or disputed content promptly. We may terminate community access for repeat infringers.
Age restriction
Terminal Candy is not intended for anyone under 13. If you are between 13 and 18, you may use it only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf.
Mature (NSFW) content is restricted to adults 18 and over. You may not reveal, view, enable, or upload NSFW content unless you are at least 18. Because NSFW skins are blurred by default and gated behind sign-in, minors using the community will not encounter them in the ordinary course of use.
Export compliance
You agree to comply with all applicable export and re-export control laws, including U.S. Export Administration Regulations and OFAC sanctions programs. You may not use Terminal Candy if you are located in an embargoed country or are on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Terminal Candy, its developer, and contributors from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising out of your use of the software or the community, the content you upload or post, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, seated in Denver, Colorado, and you waive any right to participate in a class action or class-wide arbitration. Any action not subject to arbitration shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Denver, Colorado.
Severability & entire agreement
If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest remain in effect. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Terminal Candy regarding the software and supersede all prior agreements.
Changes
We may update these terms at any time. Material changes are posted here with a new "Last updated" date; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
On July 13, 2026 the product was renamed from Terminajig to Terminal Candy. These terms apply to the product under both names, and license keys issued under the Terminajig name (TJIG-…) remain valid and unchanged.
