Installing & switching skins

A skin changes what your terminal is — the frame, the chrome, the screen shape — while a real shell keeps running behind the glass.

The easiest source of skins is the community gallery:

  1. Browse the gallery and open a skin you like
  2. Click Install in Terminal Candy — the app opens and installs it directly
  3. It’s immediately available for cycling and in the picker

You can also browse in-app: Settings (⌘,) → Skins → Get More…

Switching skins

The cycling order follows your list in Settings → Skins — drag rows to reorder it.

Managing your library

Skins live in Settings (⌘,) → Skins:

On disk, every skin is just a folder in ~/Library/Application Support/Terminal Candy/skins/ (File → Reveal Skins Folder in Finder). Dropping a valid skin folder there installs it — see the skin format.

Trial vs. licensed

The free trial holds up to 5 skin slots. A license ($10 once) removes the cap — unlimited skins, forever.

Effects

Skins can ship visual effects (scanlines, glow, curvature). Toggle them globally in Settings → General → Skin effects; a skin’s own defaults apply when the toggle is on.
